On March 27, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in approximately 500 select theaters around the United States, audiences will come together for a live event hosted by Kirk Cameron. We will be allowed a glimpse at what many have wondered, but few have dared to ask concerning the state of America. This unique movie presentation is called “Monumental: In Search of America’s National Treasure”. 

In the aftermath of wars, industry collapses, educational failures and economic uncertainty, many questions remain.  What happened to the America that so many fought and died for? Is this still the land of the free and home of the brave?  What is hindering the pursuit of happiness in what was once heralded the most prosperous country?

This April, we will witness another phenomenon from this dynamic man of God.  This new movie is the second installment in the Woman Thou Art Loosed franchise.  If you were blessed by the first movie, you certainly don’t want to miss the second one. 

Love, suspense and faith collide in this thriller starring Blair Underwood (Madea’s Family Reunion and Set It Off) and Sharon Leal (Why Did I Get Married? and This Christmas) after their daughter is kidnapped and their perfect life begins to unravel.  For us seasoned movie buffs, we are even graced with Pam Grier (Foxy Brown) in this one.  Mark your calendars for April 2012.  You don’t want to miss this!

“The Waiting Place: Learning to Appreciate Life’s Little Delays” is the first book that I’ve read from Eileen Button.  She is an author that I would love to read again.  Eileen Button brings such life to the most mundane aspects of our daily existence – and shows how you can find glimmers of hope in the most devastating circumstances.

The turning point in the book for me was in Chapters 9 and 10. These chapters told the very personal aftermath of the birth of their third child.  From then, I could not put the book down.  She delivers with authenticity without the “glamorization” that most books about waiting tend to give.  Whatever it is that you are waiting for, it is HARD, but with each of her poignant experiences, you are right there with her, anticipating the next turn, the next event, and the next page.

From reliving your own childhood memories, to wondering what your children really think of you, to questioning the role of the Church in your marriage, this book is a keeper. Kudos to you, Eileen Button.  You give us aspiring authors hope.
